Amazing what difference a decent draw makes

I don't think the draws are all that great, but certainly winnable.

The Czechs seem to keep producing these juniors that are moving on up the main rankings. Klimovicova reached the SF at Junior Wimbledon, beating Jasmine on the way, but her junior ranking has slipped as she hasn't played juniors since (turned 18 in June). Havlickova has been picking up points at various levels, and as JR1 has to be a threat.

I don't expect any of the 3 GB girls to win, although Katie has the best chance

Three tricky draws but Katie is on form, so I back her to edge it.

In a repeat of Trnava (1), Barthel and Diatchenko are drawn in the same subsection of the draw, and probably they'll have to do battle all over again to progress beyond R2. This time, the Brits might not be grouped so close in the draw. Kartal is in the other half of the draw to Swan, and hopefully if Christie gains qualification to the main draw tomorrow she won't be placed near to either of them. Sonay is down to play Snigur (#3 seed) tomorrow, that match could be a corker.

Freya's opponent lost to Ranah on the grass, and only beat Jasmine in 3, so she should have a decent crack at it.

Like jb says, Linda K hasn't done a great deal in adults, and although Freya is not our top hope, she's got every chance

Katie, if not tired from last week, will kick Linda H into touch - even Angie Blake nearly took a set off her this summer. But, it's true, Katie's had a long week last week and seems to struggle to string together a decent run and being fit and on it. However, in terms of level, she's miles ahead.

Snigur is obviously the best ranked of all of them, but hasn't won many matches recently. SHe lost to Georgina G-P a couple of weeks ago (and she's ranked 330 or so), and Polina K, who must be well below 200 now.

Tough draw for Sonay just when she had a chance of making the Top 200 this week.

Not surprised - (a) as above, and as many others have said too, she hardly ever seems to be able to bookend tournaments, back to back, and (b) why push yourself to, when you've just taken a very good title?

I totally agree - I was surprised to see her in the draw.  She's the top seed in Glasgow next week and then there's the Shrewsbury 100K at the end of the month so there's no need to be pushing herself too much this week and risking injury.

There now seem to be 11 spaces in the main draw - so potentially 3 LLs. Not that I think Freya will need one but...

I would've been more surprised if she had played with the 2 tournaments following. Makes more sense to prioritise those
