Face one autumnal

Does anyone have any idea why EWS has been removed from the singles rankings this week? She still has 3 counters until Bath comes off in January.

She doesn't have a counter from Bath as she lost in R1.

Ah, that's a change in the rules that passed me by!

Emily has a 6 and a 3 so no 3 counters and no ten points.

Changed to stop WC entries into W25 from getting a point and a ranking with 3 WC entries.

Yep, they now need to get their 3 WC entries at W60 level or above.

Thats a welcome consequence of the change but I think its more about giving players that qualify better ranking progression than those that turn up in the 1st round and lose. An established player that consistently loses in the 1st round shouldn't be able to maintain their ranking and a direct entry to the main draw ahead of a developing player that consistently qualifies, everything else being equal, which used to be the case for 25Ks. This gives the developing player an opportunity to progress more quickly by not being disadvantaged of having to expend energy playing a couple of qualifying matches all the time and moves the established player down to qualifying which might be better for them in the long run.

If it was just about giving WCs to get a ranking, that could be stopped by introducing a rule that prevented WC entries from getting ranking points unless they won a match.

A dire week for GBR women despite the BJK cup and UK pro league with few playing and only one (Katy D) scoring any points.

This must be out of date! Where, for example, are all the points which Eliz and Emily A have won recently?

Emily's 3 scores (51+13+3) give a gain of 67 which matches the table.

Eliz's 3 scores (31+18+5) give a gain of 54 which doesn't match the table. I added the Shrewsbury score wrongly missed a round off. I'll corrrect it next week disbelief
