As she's just won a J1 singles event (and the doubles), which is pretty rare and top level, and taken over the number one slot, Ella MacDonald deserves a thread of her own
Born in 2005, Ella is the daughter of ex-pro footballer, Neil MacDonald (Preston, Everton, Newcastle.....)
She's been one of the LTA detected players for a while, training at the Stirling academy
Currently ranked JWR 36, she's our top girl player, following the title in Durban
In adults, she hasn't really made her mark yet althougg her highpoint was coming within 3 points of beating Coco Vandeweghe in Wimbledon qualifiers, having come through pre-qualis to earn a wildcard place
Quite a tall girl, lefty, with well-placed ground shots, a powerful serve, and a pretty calm temperament, there's a lot to like there.
