R2: AMOS, Abigail (GBR) UNR/331 lost to RIVERA CORADO, Maria Gabriela (GUA) (8) 987/255 2-6 2-6
That's the last of our girls to fall this week.
Onto Aldershot next week and Miss Joan Hunter Dunne, or perhaps Katy Dunne.
For SC's benefit I should perhaps point out that this isn't Yank slang, it is a reference to "A Subaltern's Love Song", by a relatively well-known - if slightly dated - British poet.

John Betjeman was Poet Laureate for a while. He met Miss J. Hunter Dunne at the Ministry of Information in 1940 and was clearly impressed by the tousle haired suntanned tennis player. The poem is really his fantasy about her. He later presented it to her and apologised, but she was quite impressed. They remained friends for life.
