Johannus has written a long piece reflecting on his tennis journey to this point including the importance of his family, how he got a scholarship at Tennessee (a story I've heard before - essentially the Asst coach went to the same school as Jo and the school coach asked him to take a look at Jo after he was rejected by everyone else) and a long list of thank yous. It's very personal but well worth a read.
What a touching film and deeply felt words from JoMo. It's lovely to hear some of the players back stories and to recognise how many hurdles many of the players have had to overcome to get to where they are. I have so much respect for them and their families. Interesting how many grandparents are so important to the journey and are valued by the players.

Interesting that JoMo played the entire NCAA's with a stress "reaction", as he calls it, in his shin and the injury didn't just happen in his last college match as I had previously understood. It's disappointing he's still looking for funding, with him not being supported by the LTA. . He will look to use his Challenger Accelerator spots towards the end of the year. He doesn't think he is quite ready to make the most of them just yet.

How does the LTA funding kick in? If you are at college in the US, are you precluded from LTA funding or can you get that hand in hand? Would seem strange not to fund him, if it is available, surely he is one of our major talents in that age group?

When they graduate from college, or decide to go pro if they haven't graduated, they will join one of the LTA development programmes from the summer of that year as Jake, Jack and Toby are doing and Arthur did last summer - note the selection panel for these programmes is in November of the previous year. The LTA won't fund them while at college irrespective of what NCAA rules may be.

Thanks - so could JoMo go on from this November coming? Or be selected then? Or did he get overlooked last November?
