Not easy but that's a decent-ish draw - given three of our guys are in the 200s, you can't expect miracles....

For reference and to compare with the other federations, here are the French wildcards:

Qualifying men's singles

1. Arthur CAZAUX (Age 19 / World No.308)
2. Sean CUENIN
(Age 18 / World No.595)
3. Gabriel DEBRU
(Age 16 / World No.782)
4. Arthur FILS*
(Age 17 / World No.405)
5. Evan FURNESS**
(Age 23 / World No.214)
6. Sasha GUEYMARD WAYENBURG
(Age 18 / World No.587)
7. Laurent LOKOLI
 (Age 27 / World No.278)
8. Clément TABUR
(Age 22 / World No.360)
9. Luca VAN ASSCHE
(Age 17 / World No.377)

Eurosport is reporting that Andy is pulling out of RG so that he can focus on Wimbledon.  He probably should have made this decision sooner.

But Andy never planned to play in the French did he? He said from way back that he wouldnt play any clay. He entered Stuttgart and is considering Surbiton. So not sure why he stayed on the list to be honest and yes, seems strange unless he considered changing his mind.

I saw the match where Olivo beat Tsonga live at RG.

Could be worse draws, it's just great to see so many actually be ranked high enough for quals.

Liam beat Olivo in 2019 on hardcourts in Leon (Mexico?).

Ofner beat Jay at Wimbledon FQR way back in 2017, from two sets down to win in 5.

 Absolutely.

I mean, ignoring Wimbledon, this is the first time that either Paul or Ryan have played a Grand Slam, no? That's a huge moment.

And Paul is only 22. And Ryan's hardly an old man at 26.

(Jay is only 23 too but he's been here before, of course)

But then went a little pear-shaped - Jay lost the first set 4-6

The betting odds weren't in Jay's favour, although I am unsure why based on the rankings and recent form. I guess on to the grass for him.

13 Italians in qualis here - with no wildcards - it's pretty monstrous .....
