Week 19 - ITF W25 - Nottingham, GB Hard

Super win for Eden and Sonay up a set and a break so looks like a GB finalist

Eden is the only British women's player to have won a match at all 4 of the current group of British ITF 25's.

Billy Harris and Charlie Broom have also done the same.

But Eden has the most wins of all the Brits, with 11 so far (and possibly more to come), with Billy on 9 the next highest (possibly about to make it 10) and Sonay on 7 as the second woman (and maybe about to go to 8)

Eden does well, just as long as she gets knocked out of doubles - holds true yet again

Well, it was a good win but Eden did beat her a couple of week's ago, and in two sets. And Robin had been playing a decent standard (for her) that day, it wasn't a fluke.

Why the bookies had it the other way round, Lord only knows.

Another thumping win for Sonay, 1 & 1.

Another title here would certainly take her into the top 300 ( she might get there on 23/05 even without that ).

Another title would also probably take her into the top 120 for points added just this year ( she is live 143 with just last week's points added in ). Ah, some of us effectively said to Jaggy, top 100 by year end, no chance. Hmm. Will be really interesting to see how she does if and when she moves up a level or three.

If Sonay manages to win again this week, or even make the final, don't you think she'd have a good chance of getting a wild card into Qualifying at the Nottingham WTA event?

I think the ITF W100 at Surbiton the week before Nottingham is looking a certainty.

Gonna be a super interesting match tomorrow. I suspect Sonay will be getting back one too many balls for Eden's forehand to manage, but they are both great movers and good defenders so I anticipate some long rallies!

Great to see Maia make the final. i think playing doubles is a good way to regain fitness and confidence after such a long time out.

Sonay takes the first set 6-0 but Eden gets on the board finally, 1-0 in the second set.

Joanna Garland awaits the winner in the final, after a 2 & 1 win today.

Eden beat Joanna 4 & 2 in Dubai last year, so whichever of our two girls wins today looks likely to be favourite for the title.
