Emilie clearly is not right - hasn't been for a while. She has no singles points off this month so she should take a break and heal properly.

How do they choose LLs? If it goes to the highest ranked seed knocked out in Q2 then Emilie could still take part in the main draw as I think there is a LL slot.

I can remember occasions in the past when it used to happen, probably deliberately, but I am not sure if they have tightened the rules since.

If she was top seed could she have been bumped up to main draw after a late withdrawal and it's just showing as a LL incorrectly?.

Sounds logical. I'll fire up my laptop and have a look at the rulebook

If the rules allow it then it is probably the logical thing to do. With a place guaranteed in the Main draw, there is nothing to be gained and everything to lose by playing Q2. So skip Q2 and arrive rested and fresh for R1. It is a bit unfair on the number 2 seed who also got knocked out and would have taken the LL slot if Emilie had played Q2.

Lucky losers are drawn at random from all WTA ranked players to have lost in the FQR, then from all ITF ranked to have lost, then all unranked.
