I think Katie's stop start year last year is why Jodie is still ranked slightly above Katie, but also that Jodie had a better 2019/20 than Katie. It means that Katie is counting a lot more low scoring counters from 2019/20 than Jodie as she had fewer chances to replace them last year. Plus for all our criticisms of Jodie she hasn't done too bad with a SF and 3 QFs this year, whereas Katie has a W, a QF and a GS qualifying round win of note. But Jodie will fall a long way behind Katie in the rankings when last year's Dubai title points drop in a couple of weeks unless she has a much better week than Katie this week.
Breaking their ranking points down, more than half of Katie's counters are from 2019/20 and total 85 (9 counters) of her ranking points. That said, Jodie is counting more ranking points, 105, from 2019/20 but from 5 counters.
Katie does have more of her ranking points from this year than Jodie. Katie has 84 ranking points this year from 4 counters (GS Q2, W25 W, QF, R16). She has played a further W25 where she lost in the 1st round. Jodie has 62 of her points from this year from 5 counters (W60 QF and R16, W25 SF, QFx2). She has played a further 3 tournaments where she lost in the 1st round (GS Q, W60 and a W25).
However, if we were to look at their ranking points over the normal 52 week ranking system, they would be almost level, albeit Katie wouldn't have used her full quota of counters. Katie would have 233 points from 14 counters and Jodie 232 points from the full 16 counters.

Not much gain this week with only 31 points scored (mainly 25k Notts). Anna B up to 38 points but will need at least 75 to improve her CH which should be 564.
