This may be a 48 main draw but there were only 18 in qualifying after a whopping 11 last minute withdrawals on the acceptance list, including Jodie on Saturday.
Katie needs a good week here. She is dropping a 50 point counter from her Orlando title next Monday (replaced by a 5 pointer counter) and will plummet down the rankings to be outside of the top 250. There's nothing she can do about next week's ranking now, but a good week this week would see her recover those losses the week after.
No real contest. Katie by far the stronger player. But there were some good rallies - it was a good match for her to play, construct her points, and get an easy win
Five of our girls played matches this week and all five lost their first match, finally Katie, our sixth and last girl, gets a bye to R2 and wins her match.

Looks like a lovely location, although the scoreboard isn't working on the live picture.
Edit: I'm not very good at this. It appears that one of the tall blondes is 4-2 up, but I have no idea which one. Well, I think that shorts & long sleeves is beating racer back dress, but that isn't much help.
Edit 2: OK, I think racer back dress is blonder than shorts and long sleeves, and she has a Yonex racket. So I am cheering for her.. But now I think she is losing, and has the trainer on.
