I am quite surprised to see Amanda Carreras in qualifying for a 15K even on the initial entry deadline list. Then I went to look at the entry list. For a 15K, it's mad! I know most of them will withdraw before the withdrawal deadline but the main draw contains players ranked 176 to 305 and Amanda, ranked 489, is way down at Q47. It's as if everyone thought it was a 25K.

Crazy list - there are ten ITF tournaments this week, but only two on clay - the other is in India, so that might explain it a little. There's 30 players on the entry list that have it as priority 2 or lower, so there's a fair chance that Mandy might even be seeded in qualifying !

The week before is a 25K. I guess it doesn't take many players to think I'll stick around for another week to play the 15K while I'm here for it to end up a bloated 15K. Maybe one of the downsides of the ITF making places put on one 25K for every 4 15K's?

I hoping to see Sonay appear on these lists soon. Very rarely travels overseas for tournaments

Perhaps they should also make places put on 15k's to go with their 25k's wink

Mandy is now Q1 after the withdrawal date with the 15 on the MD list ranked 250 to 483. So she will no doubt get in.

Every week when the entry lists are released I hope there'll be some news of Fran but still nothing. I do hope she's ok. Does anyone have any news?

So long since I did a trip to a Futures event. I am so tempted with Faro. Several players that I know will be there (Billy, Ali G, Ewan M) and one or to new players to meet. I have done Faro before and what a week that was. Weather interruptions, drug testers turning up, Jonny O'Mara battling through on one leg and of course the 'Minibusgate' scandal.

No idea what covid restrictions are like in Portugal at the moment, but I have a few days to investigate.

She did pretty well in Turkey last year. If she keeps winning she'll be able to afford more trips abroad.

Hopefully Bob in Portugal can remember his login for some on site reports!

I imagine she'll wait a few weeks for her new ranking to take effect so she can get into better tournaments.

That was mainly due to injury and then covid.

I wondered if she has family connections in Turkey? It's a very common Turkish surname.

Not sure but I like the podcasts from her about her absolute disdain for rankings and the 'classic' approach to climbing the greasy pole. She says she and her coaches have only one aim (well, two really) but 'our one goal is to to keep me happy in tennis and to be the best I can be'.

Here's to that biggrin
