No idea what is up with Papamichail's serve today. It's really, really bad. Jodie swatting them away then finally gets a hold with a couple of cheap points.

5-4*

She finds 4 of her biggest serves of the match though from 30-0* down - annoyingly!

Saves 2 break points but not a third.

5-6*

Into a third. 7-6(7) 6-7(3) 0-0*

Such a bizarre match. The Greek's serve fell off a cliff, and when Jodie was two points away I thought our girl had it, and then Papamichail found 4 bombs and was serving aces and service winners all through the breaker.

Gosh, you could cry sometimes....... two points from the match on her opponent's serve - then gets broken - breaks back - and then loses the tie-break - not a particularly bad TB from Jodie, just 100% written in the stars that she was going to lose it...

Manages to not break from 40-0* and am advantage in the first game of the third set and it rather looks to be sliding to a conclusion.

0-2*

At least at 5-4 30-0* she didn't spray a bunch of errors. That's something to hold on to.

Should have broken in that game as well. A poor one from 30-0* pretty much seals the deal.

Glad you've found something to hold onto, Paul ...... I'm not really seeing it myself :(

Had 0-30 again and Papamachail holds. Pretty dreadful set this. She should be up in it to be honest, has had the chances. Instead heading for a bagel.

*0-5

Sigh. Lean start to the year and given her draws and schedule should have been doing better. Looks like she's doing Birmingham and Glasgow which is probably sensible but is a lot of airmiles...

Yeah, despite being lower ranked, that's the type of match you'd like to think she'd be winning if she is going to be pushing on this year, but 5 defeats in her last 6, and all but one of those 5 (Bektas) she was the betting favourite, so definitely a lot of winnable matches have passed her by.

I think I can remember Indy giving some insight into her ranking the other week, but despite being being at a career high, she seems a long way away from where she was during her last meeting with Despina in mid 2019.
