Week 2 - ITF W25 - Loughborough, UK Hard

Great job, Peter.

Just wonderful to see Marni back on a draw list

It's been SO long since she's been (seemingly) able to play.

And Anna Popsecu too.

Lots of good youngsters having a try out, which is great.

Thanks Peter.

Here's the respective paths through qualifying:

(1)Federica Bilardo (ITA) v (wc)Ava Williamson (GBR)
(13)Divine Dasam Nweke (DEN) v (wc)Mingge Xu (GBR)

(2)Sofia Nami Samavati (DEN) v Amy Leather (GBR)
(16)Nadia Rawson (GBR) v (wc)Daniela Piani (GBR)

(3)Jasmijn Gimbrere (NED) v Graziella Barrett (GBR)
(12)Amarni Banks (GBR) v Lauren Bishop (GBR)

(4)Kathleen Kanev (GER) v Katarina Stresnakova (SVK)
(15)Gabriela Andrea Knutson (CZE) v Lara Bakhaya (GBR)

(5)Emily Appleton (GBR) v Annali Olivelle (GBR)
(14)Abigail Amos (GBR) v (wc)Ellie Blackford (GBR)

(6)Anna Ozerova (LAT) v Emma Wilson (GBR)
(10)Giorgie Jones (AUS) v Chloe Elliott (GBR)

(7)Valentina Gaggini (ITA) v Tabitha Holmes (GBR)
(9)Anna Popescu (GBR) v (wc)Talia Neilson Gatenby (GBR)

(8)Ambre Feder (FRA) v Hannah Smith (GBR)
(11)Danielle Daley (GBR) v Francesca Davis (GBR)

So, unless Ellie B is a promising talent, Emily Ap should really be coming through that comfortably, and it will be a GB player in the main draw regardless. Hopefully we get one or two others coming through as well.

TA mentioned Jasmine, Millie, Sonay, and Eliz as potential MDWCs on the entries thread, but it looks like Millie was a late withdrawal, so I'm not really sure who could be the 4th, assuming the other 3 have them.

He's a professional, he doesn't just put it in any bloody order now does he?

I always work down the order but I only include matches with at least one GB player.

Millie is listed as PFLWQD 22 Jan 2022 on the acceptance list. I'm not certain what the PF stands for though. Looking down the entry list I can;t see who else mighthave got a wild card. My furst thought was Stresnacove, but she'e in qualifying. Joanna Garland ?

Soumeya was on the list but she is also now listed as PFLWQD.

Yeah, I was thinking Stresnacova as well before seeing her in the Q list. Garland should be in the main draw. A longer shot, but if Ayla Aksu wasn't playing, and there was an SE somewhere, then perhaps Freya might have needed one to avoid being the Q1, but you'd like to think she'd make it directly. No other names are jumping out to me as Arina V should be in the main draw as well (in case that UKPL win got her one).

There are a couple of others, but the only significant one is Indy De Vroome, who is PFLWMD 22 Jan 2022, She would have been fourth seed.

I wonder if the PF in PFLWQD is something to do with the pandemic.

I first thought it stood for Penalty Free Late Withdrawal Qualifying Draw. Soumeya was playing a delayed doubles QF in Antalya yesterday. But I couldn't see why any of the other players with a PFLW meet the criteria for a penalty free withdrawal so I'm now thinking it means Post Freeze Late Withdrawal. Its good they've started showing withdrawals after the lists are frozen.
