Week 1 - WTA 250 - Melbourne, Australia - Summer Set 2 (outdoor hard)

Q2: DART, Harriet (GBR) 12 123 def WANG, Xinyu (CHN) 4 101 1-6 7-6(5) 6-4

This was a rearguard fight by Harriet all the way to the last two games. Harriet lost the first set 6-1, went a break down at the start of the 2nd and hauled her way back, went 4-0 and 5-1 down in the tie break and won it 7-5, went a break down in the 3rd, before levelling and breaking again to serve for the match. Even then she faced a break point before finally holding to take the match.

Harriet Dart vs Madison Keys. Could've been better.

Not the best draw but not the worst one available. Hopefully Madison is rusty

Thanks for that rundown, Peter - makes you laugh even just to read it - that's our Harriet.....

Two good wins for Harriet. Really feel this is the year she needs to crack the top 100.

Great stuff Harriet. If Keys is blowing cold her defence, movement, and tenacity could cause the American a lot of problems. Good test.

What happened to Harriet's knee? For a moment I thought she might be copying Emma for luck.
