The venue for week 4 is Warwick University, not sure what faculties they have for this type of event, but handily close to the following weeks action in Nottingham.

Week 4 starts tomorrow, doesn't seem to be an entry list or schedule of play posted yet, anyone got any idea on entries for this week coming?

No, but I know what Maia Lumsden is playing, to feel out if she's better from covid, or if the 'long' effects are still a problem

That would be good, if Maia is playing, be great to see. Even if she only gets to play 2 matches

Think it starts Sunday not Saturday. Think they are all Sunday to Saturday this year.

It is isnt it. its good as others have an opportunity to earn money. But on the same token if the level isnt high enough is it if use and will it continue. The old use it or lose situation.

Yeah, the women's isn't much better. Maia a very welcome and notable addition, a few regular deep run contenders like Eliz, Katarina, Alice. Good to see Marni giving it another go, but it's then pretty weak after that.

I was just thinking Kate Mansfield could be a fairly interesting addition given she's 17, and her very few ITF results have been half reasonable thus far, but then I also just noticed she's American, which isn't ideal for a domestic event. I think it's just the 3 non GB players this week though, which is probably down on the average this year...

Kate Mansfield may have US nationality, but she is based here and has played over 500 matches in domestic competitions at all age groups from 9U.

Yeah, I thought I'd read about her being based over here during the earlier ITF events, but wasn't sure and thought she might have just been over here early in time for the future GB ITF events this month. In that case, it's better than the likes of Vasilescu, Malygina, and Samavati competing, and who knows, she may switch down the line, but at the same time, especially when the 3 previous winners of the UK Pro League, a season-long competition to crown Britain's men and women Champions, were Romanian, Estonian, and Lithuanian, it does kind of defeat the purpose of the event, but they're presumably struggling to fill draws these days.

I don't think it's as weak as all that.

Compare with all the other UTR events this week/last week - look at Barcelona, Blaricum, Atlanta, Rio, Dobrich, Dubai - there are a couple of names you know in those events but the vast majority are players you've never heard of.

I know this is richer but it's still no points. The rich money events in France aren't always much better (depends on local ITFs)

The men here has top 400 (Billy), Dan (550), Brandon (who plays about 800-900 or so - beat Billy, and Luke, etc), and Sean who is a decent 1000 or so. It's not bad....

i guess Im comparing with past weeks. The entry at UKPL is generally much stronger than this; whether its surprising or not as itf events get more prevalent is another matter.

in terms of other UTR type events in other countries, Im not surprised I wouldnt know their players if theyre down in the relative depths whereas in all the past UKPL events Ive heard of all the players.

it doesnt really matter though, its still interesting. My main concern is that for the league to be authentic as a competition , the points tables need a little narrative running through them, a consistency of player and competition. And i think that was there in the past 2 years but isnt really there this year.

but its fine.
