That's a pity. Hopefully she'll get a decent run in the doules (Liv is there)

Her doubles success does sadly seem to be coming at the expense of her singles form.

The doubles is starting a day earlier than usual, with Lissey and Liv scheduled for 6th match on court one. Live stream available on both courts today.

Hmm, I wonder if there is indeed such a cause and effect?

No problems for Lssey and Liv (apart from droppig serve in the opening game)

Less movement so fitness/health issues are not exposed.

Teamplay so technical deficiences are not exposed or at least mediated.

That's all the negative side, though

Joe Salisbury isn't better at doubles because he's unfit or got technical deficiencies.

And he too tried out for quite a while in singles.

I think our college players are often slightly better at doubles (relatively)

She may well be focusing on doubles in her training now and doing singles to 'keep her hand in', so to speak.

I like Alicia but she's never going to be a top 250 singles player. She could, with a bit of a fairwind and the odd slice of luck, be a top 100 doubles player. At this stage of her career it would make sense, if she wants to keep playing for another 3-4 years (or possibly more) to focus on doubles. So if her singles showings take a hit while she is picking up 25k titles and hopefully moving up to bigger challengers as she nudges the ranking along, is that really a bad thing?

I remember talking to her a few years ago and she was concentrating on doubles then.
