2022 BJK Cup Qualifiers - Czech Republic vs GB - 15-16 April

Harriet has 40-15 at 6-0 *3-0, three brilliant points from the Czech give her a break point. Return into the net. Massive return winner. Wild backhand.

That felt like a last roll of the dice for Linda. Harriet not secured this one yet, the young Czech looks much more up for the fight.

Momentum shifting big here. You can feel it. Harriet needs to stem this. She's looking a little stressed now...

*3-2

Vondrousova is in a class of her own on this surface. Has been a finalist in Paris.

Not liking this male commentator who seems to want the young player to win.

Bad miss at 30-15 but a good angle saves the break point. Amazing job to hold and then a super game to break.

Dart/Swan surely for the doubles. Sonay and Emma never play doubles

Can we save that sort of talk until she's won!

2 more match points missed.

She was always more likely to break than serve it out.

Horrible game, Czech believes again and I'd buckle up. Still a lot of tennis in this one.

5-5*

Another couple of break points missed, play now stopped as Harriet is bleeding.

Just to be clear, she's grazed her knuckle

ADD: didn't want anyone to think she was seriously injured ! smile

Can't see Harriet winning from here to be honest. Two massive forehand errors to end that game. Ugh.

Harriet loses the set 7-5. She can't hold the racket properly, can't keep the ball in court, but it's her own fault. Should have closed this out.

Czechs on their way.

6-0 5-7 0-0*

Wastes 0-40 but Linda helps her with a double.

*1-0

It's very passive now though, she's quite far behind the baseline. I liked how much she was stepping in before.

To be fair even to 6-0 *5-2 the match was actually very tight, but she was keeping the Czech at bay. Then her level dropped as she tightened.

Nice ace on her second serve for game though

Linda was swinging freely and really well, when she was behind. She looked a fair bit tighter in the third though. Errors. I'm guessing she'll play better now she's behind again. But it might be tricky to close it out...

Yes CD you are right. Once she was in a pretty helpless position in the second it started to clicking, and it's dropped just enough for Harriet to wrestle control.

But these 4 games have still been very close, margins in this match are quite fine I think.

4-0*

Although that break to love made Linda look a little lost.

*5-0
