I like this approach, target the singles ranking with a view to getting top250 by Wimbledon for a Wild Card chance. I watched her quarter final defeat last week and with a bit of luck she could have been where Emina ended up.
Looking at the way the ranking points are and where she is in the race, she should certainly be able to push on up to the top 300 depending on how you approach it.
They played a lot of tennis last week especially Emina, so understandable. I very much doubt that they are steering away from doubles in the medium to long term. Though we shall see, they have both been getting decent singles results of late, particularly Emina.
I just think they are seriously on the rise as a doubles pair and will keep going, Tara with someone else if for any reason Emina wants a break from doubles though clearly Emina would be her preferred tennis partner.
Tara has earned more doubles points than any other Brit this year and, after their last minute US Open call up, I can well imagine Tara and Emina wanting more Slam MD doubles action together, especially at Wimbledon.
Both players should target the singles career while they can and both are rising at the moment. That should always be a players priority, its the main course.
You can always pick up doubles again when you are unable to compete in singles.
In fact further to that, just realised Emina will be almost certain, at the age of 28, to take out her career high of 234 in the next week or so. That means she will be into singles qualification for the Aus Open, financially as well thats a massive consideration. Id say thats further reason for both to see what they can do next year. Its easy enough to pick the doubles again, a lot harder with singles so take the opportunity whilst it presents itself.
