Week 25 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - men's qualifying

No doubt both will be disappointed to have come so close, but hopefully when they can reflect, they will be extremely proud of what they've achieved this week.

Tough loss for Anton and totally gut wrenching for Arthur. Both have performed magnificently this week although that may not be much consolation to them at this moment.

Let's hope a couple of LL spots appear in the draw and they get lucky.

Thiem just withdrew, I think. Does that open up a LL spot?

I imagine that any LLs come from a ballot of the leading seeded FQR losers? I'm not sure though?

Yes, you're right. Twitter confirmed -

"Wimbledon Lucky Loser situation:

Majchrzak, F. Cerundolo and Uchiyama are the first 3 players in the LL draw. They will be joined by one of Bonzi, van de Zandschulp and Gaio."

I hope they move on in the right direction from this. I would love to see both of them and the other youngsters that did well rhis week have a go at Newport ( if it still exists) Anton in particular looks almost ready to hit the big time

There were 4 matches in FQR that went to seedings so 4 seeded losers, little to no chance of a spot

I saw on twitter the top eight lucky losers - our lads will be way further down the pecking order

Surely there should be a British wildcard into the lucky loser draw ! Hahaha

I'd give LL places to those whose FQR matches were closest. Now, who would that benefit.....?!

I thought LL were based on amount of games won or % games won
Now some grass court clown that lost in first round is in!,

Never ever heard that one.

Anyway, as has been discussed above, the LL(s) here come from a ballot of the highest ranked players who lost in the FQR

Minor note but Marco Trungelitti qualified so atleast there is a little consolation prize there, thrilled for him

Otte and Kudla both qualified without losing a set. kudla did well in challengers also and could be a dangerous qualifier to watch
