Yes, TF appears to be very strong and definitely OTT by some although as HarryGem says some of the adjectives used re Jo are arguably not unreasonable. And there was some recogniton of her achievements in spite of perceived limitations.

However net net I can see some clear general attitudes to Jo contributing to that 91-9. Alrhough again when betting odds are 4/7 vs 11/8, fairly tight but still a clear favourite, I would expect a vote to be much more clearcut than the betting odds. As Ace indeed acknowledges this is simply a vote as to the likely winner rather than the closeness and even where no agenda / bias in place, it is likely to be quite a bit more clearcut than the 62/38 betting odds proportions. Again, I do though yes accept 91-9 is rarher extreme and accept there may be agenda reasons for that. But say a 75 to 80% vote would not raise my eyebrows against a betting 62% proportion.

 Some bookies now offering evens on Jo.

From the reliable source

@tennisontelly

@tennisontelly

Yes, she has come in a fair bit TTMan.

www.tennisexplorer.com/match-detail/

I'm traditionally a fraction person (as that is what the UK is generally more used to), but since discovering that site, I have started to do a bit more in decimals. Jo was around 2.77 when the odds first came out, then came in more towards 2.38 (circa 11/8) the next day, but now some, like William Hill and Bet365, offering 2.00 (or evens) as you say.

That'll be CD and his 10p's smile

Diyas wins 12 of the last 13 points. Was fairly steady, then when it started getting tight fell apart. Those last 3 games were an embarrassment, honestly. So frustrating.

15 points in a row for Diyas now, man. 4-6 *0-1

I'm not sure what issue she is carrying with her right shoulder which is heavily strapped.

She holds a ten minute game

1-1*

These 2 look well matched for me and the match could go either way. There really isn't much to choose between either player and Heather looks likely to take this to a 3rd set. Even if her current form has been lousy, she looks to be playing reasonably well against an opponent of similar ranking, age and experience.

Same story this set 4-2*, brought back level to 4-4*

Heather had multiple points for 5-3*, but couldn't find a first serve. Had a chance there but Diyas found easy return winners or which drew errors/basic third short winner off pretty weak second serves.

*4-5

Sigh.

From 40-15 to deuce again. But manages to escape the game this time.

Diyas holds easily.

*5-6

Diyas wins 6-4 7-5. Heather looked to be tiring at the end of a long second set- lots of stretching to try to get the legs working - close but no cigar. Not all bad from Heather, but sadly not quite good enough either.

Poor final game and loses 6-4 7-5.

It was close, and she had her chances, but the level wasn't there when she needed it. Second serve in particular was so shaky. But she did fight like crazy the entire time which is a big step up from recent Tour matches where she has looked very flat.

Hopefully something better comes from the grass. She needs some wins to be sure of making the Olympics if they go ahead
