I've got no idea what her doubles pedigree is like, but an interesting partner in MCOS there for Emily. The young'un qualified for the singles main draw earlier today. A certain contrast in age.

It's long trip for Kato from Florida (where she has just lost in the final) to Belgrade.

Maria has been playing in the US, partnering Conny Perrin. They've beaten and lost to Tara and Emina, and reached a couple of 25k finals. All on hard courts though.

Now you say that, I can actually remember those matches TA, and caught the end of one MTB, as I was hoping to see some potential beef at the net  biggrin

Her singles career has come a very long way in those past 2 and a half / 3 months - she was just inside the top 200 during those matches, but is now closing in on the top 100.

I wouldn't be massively surprised if MCOS ended up pulling out of the doubles to be honest. She was a pretty big favourite heading into her match with Zhang (who had lost 16 sets in a row stretching back to the French Open last year). The young'un was 6-2 1-0 up, but has now lost 10 games in a row, and has had an MTO for her thigh which was bothering her during her WTA singles success at Bogota and Charleston.

Mind it was 4-0 *40-0 at the time of writing, but Maria broke and has since held, so may be life in her singles, and doubles, journey here. She is in RG quals next week.

I love her passion. Whether it's the MTO helping, Zhang confidence a bit low after her dreadful run, or a bit of both, but it's a big turnaround since my last post. Hope she can complete the comeback.

Wow. Zhang did help out a bit towards the end of the set, and TB, but that's a hell of a comeback, considering she had lost 10 games in a row, and Zhang was on the brink of a 5-0 deciding set lead. Fair play to her.

Weather is meant to be decent tomorrow, but not the best on Weds and Thurs. Rained for most of the day today, which is why we still have play at 11pm local time, and just 4 singles matches completed.

She does, in the final set tiebreaker. Like you Ace, I rather fear the leg plus RG qualies next week, combined with the very late finish here, may mean she doesn't turn up for doubles. Although I perhaps feel it's more likely with a win than had she lost with the niggle. Which would be a real shame for Emily, but from the youngsters standpoint understandable I suppose. Hopefully she gives it a go though. It wasn't actually a particularly long match for 7-6 in the third, the doubles isn't until 3pm and she's guaranteed a late singles on Wednesday as her opponent won't be decided until the 7pm singles match tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I saw your post, and managed to catch the TB. Impressive.

It kind of does, indirectly, (potentially) involve a Brit, but there'll probably be a few checking back in to the thread and seeing a number of recent posts, expecting it to be all Brit related, and be in for a surprise biggrin

Correction on my last post, there hasn't yet been 4 completed singles matches today as I see the final one on Centre has just gone into a decider, so potentially a very late finish there.

Em on court. Unfortunately Amazon Prime aren't covering doubles from Belgrade at all, which is very strange.

0-0*
