Winning a title here is only worth 18 more points than at the 25k+H in Corsica, which feels ridiculous looking at the comparitive fields and that this is a 48 player main draw. Fran is scheduled to be here.
Beautiful site though.

Sashi has played 3 matches in a WC qualifying tournament on Thursday and Friday. In the last 8 she beat the 2nd seed Matilde Morais 3 & 3 but in the last 4 lost to the 3rd seed, Maria Santos, by the same score. All the final 4 in that competition have QWCs. Sashi is based in Oeiras, at the venue where next week's W25 is being held.
I remember two players who never did a thing on clay, really, coming good as they matured . Tim Henman of course in 2004, French semis, and johann Kriek back in the 80s doing similar. Kriek had no idea on clay but somehow mastered it one year late in his career for one special event.
Clay takes patience and for non clay players like Ems maybe that comes easier with age.
Steady John, not sure that a win over a player ranked out the top 1000 is a signal Em is going to suddenly have a run at the French - although I like the ambitious thought!!
