Fran starts her campaign tomorrow. It seems last weeks W25 Argentinian tournament, where she lost in quals, was Julieta's first event since 2019, and she is a big 7/1 outsider at Bet365.
I doubt there will be too many times in history, especially in a non UK event, where the only direct acceptances in a particular quarter, in terms of ranking, are British players.

(2)Francesca Jones (GBR) v (wc)Julieta Lara Estable (ARG)
Fran took the first set on the TB, with her 3rd SP. 7-6(5). On serve in the early stages of the 2nd (*2-2). Looking far closer than what the odds were suggesting.
Thinking about it logistically, if she was wanting to play Bogota quals, she would probably realistically need to exit this W25 either today or tomorrow, as losing on Friday, and then getting over to Colombia to play on the Saturday, in altitude, would probably be pushing it.
Points wise, you're looking at 12 for a WTA Q1 win, a further 6 for a FQR win, a further 30 for a R1 main draw win, and then far more significant after that, but as the 2nd seed, 30 for a final here, or 50 for a title is still big points. It'll be interesting to see how her week pans out.
Edit - she's just been broken, 2-3*

Probably the best approach. She should get lots of WTA opportunities in the near future once her ranking is a little higher, not to mention the grass, where she'll likely be a high end WC contender.
