Just checked and there are 23/32 local players, and India isn't exactly a hotbed on the women's side. Shame there weren't a few more GB players involved - it looks a great opportunity to get a ranking boost/inflate.

The original entry list on 18th February included the following:-
Francesca Jones, Naiktha Bains, Jodie Burrage, Katie Boulter, Tara Moore, Emily Webley-Smith, Alicia Barnett, Freya Christie, Emily Appleton and Emilie Lindh. Emily was only 22nd alternate, and Jodie only just made the main draw !
Several British girls were Late Withdrawals. It would be interesting to know if those late decisions were affected by Covid or just a late change in plans.
Em still needs a minimum of a final at this level before the points improve her ranking, and also has a number of points from winning titles in and around May 2019 that will drop off before long.
So fingers crossed there are no slip-ups. The second seeds have a combined ranking of 1001, so there is an excellent chance here.

The fact that Em needs a final of a 25k (!) to improve her ranking just shows how messed up the rankings are at the moment (IMHO)
But lovely to see her get a nice, easy win against a player who obviously is not complete chopped liver.

I meant to say, I was refering to doubles rankings, where Em has five W25 titles and a final amongst her counters..
The singles win gives 5 points (nett 4) and a potential jump of about 14 places, and ahead of Naomi who was equal on points (OER live rankings)

Sorry, I misunderstood ! My fault. (I was a little surprised.....)
Ok, makes sense now. So, allez Em, pile on those singles points while you can !
