Week 9 - WTA 250 ($235K) - Lyon, France Hard

Q1: DART, Harriet (GBR) 7 152 (CH=121 2019) v NAITO, Yuki (JPN) 187 (CH=175 2020)

Harriet lost to Yuki in three earlier this year.

WTA being reticent with publishing the draw on their website as usual.

IF Harriet wins, she would face Tereza Martincova WR128 #1 or Margot Yerolymos WR322 [WC] in the FQR

A relatively tough draw, both 5/6 / 1.84 in the early odds, so 50/50 from that perspective. I'm not sure how far off Naito was from being a seed, but looking at the 12 non seeded potential opponents, I'd say this would probably be the 2nd toughest she could have got (after Frech).

Hopefully the betting sites will be streaming this as they seem to have shown a lot more qualifying matches recently.

Keep an eye on the doubles draw, I have a strong feeling that there may be GB interest wink

Probably too early to say, but I saw a clip of Emily and Sofia practising.
11 direct entries, 3 on-site and 2 wild cards.
Doubles start on Monday.

Looks like Unibet are covering Lyon and Qatar quals (they're definitely streaming the latter). My Stan James account was converted to a Unibet account years ago, but have never used it, deposited my first £5 with them and they are available. Havent tried on my laptop yet, but you can get it full screen on your phone, and then can cast etc. to a bigger screen.

Could be an option for those wanting watch Harriet later on.

It's not quite as good as Bet365 was back in the day, but you can zoom to 200% on your laptop and get it to about 3/4 of your screen. Harriet is 5th on Court 1. The first match on that court is already over, but the next match looks to be NB 10.30am. Not sure if Bet365 have lost a contract or something recently, but they used to be the most likely to cover these type of matches.

The scores on Harriet's court thus far were:

6-1 6-1
6-4 6-1
6-1 6-1

2 seeds out, and another non seed had 6-1 5-3*, served for it twice, but that's now into a deciding set, so could be another hour until Harriet is on, but there were certainly rattling through the matches with play starting at 9am UK.

I actually think Unibet might be better than Bet365. I didn't realise that you could get it 100% full screen, pretty sharp quality as well. I'd definitely recommend anyone who isn't anti betting companies, who might like to watch these type of matches, to sign up. It looks like they might be taking over Bet365 as the main streaming outlet, because I can remember another recent WTA event where they had qualifying streaming, but 365 didn't.

So with signing up to unibet you are able to watch Harriet and quailes?

Yes. I've saw bit and bobs of a few matches today, Qatar as well. You do need to deposit a fiver though, but you could just withdraw when you're done, and don't need to have an actual bet.

One of the players to lose 6-1 6-1 in qualifying was Olga Danilovic who I thought was headed for great things a  couple of years  ago. I notice that Clara Tauson had an easy 6-2  6-0 win  in  qualifying. . This is one of the players who you associate with Emma Raducanu as a junior.

And a slight contrast in tour schedules since their Sunderland W25 semi final pretty much exactly a year ago. This is Clara's 12th tour event since the restart, she's won 3 ITF titles, qualified for the French Open, and beat Brady in R1. Surely just a matter of time until she breaks into the top 100.

Harriet into a TB in the opening set. I've not managed to see any of it, but will tune in for the 2nd.
