I dont know how she finds the motivation to keep playing and travelling especially now. When was the last singles victory?

Two wins in qualifying in Taipei 125k November 2019. Most of her matches since then have been qualifying for higher level ITF tournaments, W60 and W100 - she is concentrating on doubles and the singles is an extra.

Only 9 pairs entered in the doubles, so straight into the QF's. Looks like there a few on-site entries as well with three French pairs.

QF:- Sofia Shapatava (GEO) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR319 (155+164) [2] / Marie Cerezo (FRA) / Amandine Monnot (FRA) UNR (UNR+794)

Emily holds serve, which I don't think has happened for quite a few doubles matches now. So that's a start.

*4-1

I was wondering how you knew that, until I looked at the momentum graph !
A match they should have won easily - and did !
(Except the scoreboard has frozen at match point)

QF:- Sofia Shapatava (GEO) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR319 (155+164) [2] def Marie Cerezo (FRA) / Amandine Monnot (FRA) UNR (UNR+794) 6-2 6-0

Got the streak broken. Small steps. Well done girls.

Yes, Em's ranking allowed her to consistently play bigger tournaments last year when covid allowed. But it was winless.

Good to get that winning feeling again, and with Sofia.

Forgive me for asking a question which may seem obvious or weird, but I wondered , as I am clueless. Are Em and Shapatova in a relationship? Im reading the posts over time and sort of assumed they are but I really dont know. Good for them
If they are and sorry to them if Ive read it all wrong !!

They team up for a few weeks, then go their own ways. But although they play with other people, they have better results as a team.
I think Sofia might be in a relationship with her German coach, but not much to base that on.
