FQR : (q12) Tara Moore WR 458 (CH 145 in May 2017) vs (q2) Francoise Abanda (CAN) WR 311 (CH 111 in October 2017)

Looks like it would have been a good quality match-up in 2017. Anyway I hope Tara can win in 2021 and make the MD

Tara served for the first set at 5-2 but, at 30-30, with two double faults, she got broken

However, with solid sliced backhand, Tara wins the next game, breaking again, and the first set

Wow, after a really pretty grim second set, which Tara lost 2-6, she went on to play an absolute blinder of a tie-break. No double faults, hitting the cover off her forehand, a couple of very neat drop shots, dragging Francoise in, followed by very good passing shots, a real ten minutes of 'where on earth did that come from'?

Agree CD! I only watched the tiebreak but sat here thinking how well Tara was playing with as you say some great early forehands which set the tone and then coming out on top of some longish rallies.

On the basis of what I saw, and i havent seen her play for quite a few years, she should be so much higher ranked than she is - would be nice to think this might be the start of an upward curve again.

Well done - lets hope she now gets a favourable draw.

Strange match. They were *0-5 in the second set, served for the match at *6-5, and were 3-8 in the MTB befoe taking the last seven points.

Tara has drawn Robin Montgomery in round one, then Spains 8th seed if she gets through that.

emerging - steady down, old man! Waking up at this stage I would say...give it a few more matches!
