Heather has quite a good record against French players at the French Open - at least 3 first round wins.
Heather has played Ferro twice in Australia this year on hardcourts and won both times. Unfortunately this is on clay and Ferro won Palermo on clay but hasn't played since.
That was my feeling as well. Not sure whether it will impact here but Gauff has been having trouble with her serve lately. 13 double faults against Sevastova in New York and 15 against Muguruza in Rome. If the 2nd round result in Rome had been reversed then Jo would have played Gauff in the 3rd round and not Muguruza. I notice that Gauff was the winner of the juniors in Paris in 2018.

Andy, Dan, Liam , Jo and the injured Kyle get a mention in the papers (Mail and Telegraph)on the subject of the draw for the French. However there is no mention of Cam who has a qualifier and Heather who has Ferro. Surely they deserve a mention.
Well done to Mayar Sherif who, I believe, is the first Egyptian woman ever to make the main draw of the French Open
I notice that she a spell at Pepperdine University which must have helped her tennis. She's got Ka. Pliskova in the 1st round, although Pliskova was injured in her last match.

First Egyptian women to make the main draw of any slam I believe CD, according to the WTA anyway. Quite a few good stories today, Zarazua becoming the first Mexican women to make any slam in 20 years. Bitter sweet because of who she beat, but Bara has made her first slam MD appearance at 25 (at the 12th time of asking), and a rare Argentinian women in a main draw with Podoroska qualifying - her first slam MD for over 4 years, and she's knocked off about 200 spots off her ranking in 12 months, despite COVID.
People who have followed Emma Raducanu's junior career might be interested to see that Clara Tauson who was a junior adversary of Emma's has qualified for her first Grand Slam singles. She plays Jennifer Brady who will be a difficult opponent if she retains her hard court form.
Well that's just about as bad a draw as Konta could have got. She's in a lose lose position here really. Probably just the marginal favourite but Gauff is such a good player for her age and Jo has been relatively poor for over 12 months now. I fear Gauff will win.
Heather has a decent chance of getting through but faces a potetnially difficult 2nd round match.

Well it might be in terms of difficulties but nobody is going to complain if she loses to Gauff. There were plenty of other 1st round opponents who she would get far more adverse comments about a loss to than Gauff. Ferro, Heathers' opponent should not be underestimated because she won the clay court at Palermo but has not played since.
