Weeks 27-32 - UK Pro Series - St George's Hill, Weybridge - (Hard)

These start next week and go on for several weeks, so it felt like it made sense to have a separate thread to allow people to comment on these matches that doesnt interfere with the British Tour, Progress Tour etc. Will do same for womens.

Dont think individual events need separate threads, suspect it will suffice to maintain the whole of the series in this one thread.

How was entry decided? Was it normal entry requirements of ranking or invitation?

You entered via email and the list is drawn up in ATP ranking order. 2 WC's each week. ( Hence Marcus Willis getting into the first week )  No more than one U18 player in the draw

Monday to Friday is round robin for the players in each group.  You get a point for each set one. At the end of the week there will a ranking list based on points one.

Saturday and Sunday play offs.  Top 2 from each group play for position 1 - 4, Players 3 and 4 play off for position 5 - 8 , and players 5 & 6 play off for 9 - 12. This determines the final placings

Player finishing top qualifies for the classic week. Player finishing 2 get  11 points, 3rd 10 points  and so on.  Qualification for the classic week is the 5 series winners and the next 5 highest point earners over the weeks.  + 2 WC's

That is 7 matches in 7 days. I cant see many players wanting ( or being able to ) play all 5 weeks and then the Classic 6th week.

Thanks for this Tramlines. Quick query - each match is 2 proper sets and a MTB. If someone wins 2-0,  do they score 3 points or do they play MTB regardless and that decides who gets the 3rd point?

It feels like a lot of tennis and I can see it fizzling out later in the event - we will see. I like the points system as a general rule, and think that we should apply it to groups of ITF events, like the old satellite system.

The 2nd week will be interesting to see who plays where - we have a clash with British Tour most weeks anyway, so players will have to decide between the two, but the womens Progress event also clashes that week, so the women will be effectively split 3 ways...

Do we have any idea of players entered into subsequent weeks ? I wondered if any of Dan, Kyle, Cam (Andy?) might turn out in one of those weeks? If they dont play, they will have a big gap between Battle of Brits and US events...and if US events dont happen, an even bigger gap until the clay swing in September

Having re - read the rules. Each match is 3 sets . 2 Full sets and 3rd set is MTB - so you can get 3,2,1, or 0 points per match

Yeah, I read that and took it to mean they play the MTB regardless of whether the actual match is already won or not. I'd probably prefer them to give 3 points to a 2-0 winner but it is their rules!

Wonderful to see 'old' friends like Marcus and Tom Hands. As well as youngsters who've been knocked down with injury for ages such as Ryan Storrie.

I am SO enjoying these basically all-Brit events......

Obvious question but is it streamed???

The Instagram for the event shared Julian Cashs story saying the games will be available on the LTA YouTube channel.

Anyone know how the money breaks down. I see that this series is 5 qualifying weeks and one classic finals week. With a total ok $500k in prize fund. Assuming more is geared to the finals week. But thats a fair bit available.

I was just about to post this having seen CD's post earlier (and not knowing myself). It's got to be up there with one of the most minimal amounts of information available for a tournament that I can remember, but that Instagram story is positive.

It says first match is 11.30am, but not sure if that's for the tournament, or specifically when Julian plays his first match (or both).

Not entirely sure but my instinct is $40k per event per week for the 5 qualies weeks, then $50k per event for finals? Or perhaps a 35k/75k split?

Winner of each qualifying week event gets 5,000 dollars with 20,000 dollars for the 'masters' week.
