8 of the greatest players of all time are listed below. Of these 8, which player do you believe was the greatest? Vote for them.

Top 3 go through to the semis round.

If there are ties for qualifying spots, a tie play off will be played Monday evening.

Poll closes at 6

Completely torn between two players, gone for the one I felt has contributed most to the game in general, martina N.

A number of options here but I chose Martina for her longevity and the Impact she had on changing womens tennis. Her rivalry with Chris Evert was perhaps the greatest the womens game has ever seen.

Billie Jean King and Serena Williams good candidates for the greatest ever too.

3 players with votes here so far, will all 3 progress?

Now it's 3 players have 1 vote each so not all clear who will be the 3rd. Billie Jean, Simona and Maria Bueno those three, Martina and Serena clear.

Margaret Osborne Dupont, won 37 slams in total, singles doubles and mixed and never played the Australian. She was rated world number one in 1947.

Though one thing going forward  I am still thinking about is how much I should factor in such as Serena's quite odious behavior to umpires at times. Can you be the greatest while threatening to throttle umpires?  Maybe say Martina would have been a better choice for me here. For the future ...

I was split between the two and , in my personal weighting system, I ended up with martina as you suggest

Well Martina now has nearly half the votes here now and more than double Serena's..

Serena now has 4, Maria Bueno, who the more I read the more I'm impressed as a lone top Brazilian player, has 3 and Billie Jean 2...

A very last minute vote come in here , just before I could close the poll down: the 3 qualifiers are:

Martina Navratilova
Serena Williams
Maria Bueno

Out go King, Halep, Davenport, Hingis and Osborne-Dupont. Possibly thought that King might progress over Bueno here.
