Laura takes an early stint at the front, rest are all bunched behind.

Went for Laura in the end - for me she stands out in this group although perhaps wouldnt have voted for her ahead of others in the other groups.

Some background career information on GLASGOW GROUP members:

Arthur Ashe - from Richmond, Virginia, died sadly at 49, far too young, in 1993. Arthur won 3 slams in his career, incl Wimbledon in 1975. A few months before that triumph over Jimmy Connors, he had won the WCT Finals in Dallas, his only year end title. He reached #1 under the Harry Hopman rankings list for the ITF in 1968 and the ATP rated him #2 in 1976.

Bjorn Borg - Now 63 years old, the Swede lives in Monte Carlo. Won 11 slams, 6 French and 5 Wimbledon, and won 2 Tour Finals and a WCT Finals in his career. Reached #1 in August 1977. The feat of winning 5 back to back FO/Wimbledons is unmatched and many think of Borg as the GOAT!

Laura Robson - Still only 26, living in London, Laura reached the 4th round of two slams in her career, and ranking high in 2013 of 27. She also won silver in the Olympics Mixed Doubles with Andy Murray.

Dominic Thiem - the Austrian, 26 years old, reached #3 in the rankings just before the current lockdown, in March. He has reached 3 Slam finals and also the Tour Finals last season at the O2

Emily Webley-Smith - aged 35 now, hailing from Bristol, Emily reached a high ranking of 240 in 2011 and is currently ranked 461 in the world. She reached the 2nd round of Wimbledon in 2004.

Marcus Willis - 29 years old and from Slough, Marcus reached 322 in the rankings in 2014. In 2016 he reached the 2nd round at Wimbledon. Like Laura, is his career as a singles player over or will he comeback

H2H wise - Ashe and Borg played each other 15 times in their careers, as Borg was coming up and Ashe was probably peaking. Borg has an 8-7 record over Ashe

Long way to go but that would be a tie break play off to make people ponder, I reckon.

There are 3 groups currently with ties, Graf,Hantuchova and Jones in one and Halep and Venus Williams in another - as it stands , the tie play offs could be womens only match ups.

A worry that Laura seems to be treading water after such a strong start. I hope she is OK.

Ah, actually she has just added a 5th vote to go back 2nd on her own.

I love Laura but had to vote for Borg. I was devastated I couldn't vote for him in the final of the previous poll where he got knocked out early so doing all I can to keep him in this time!
