Who will emerge stronger?

Hoping that the tennis season will resume again, in the late autumn perhaps, I was also hoping that some of our players would emerge stronger, particularly those who had been struggling with injury e.g. Laura, Tara, Naomi, Marcus.

Does anyone have any insight about how the players are getting on or any thoughts?

I too would love to hear some real news on how our injured players are doing. As a big fan of Naomi , I wonder if she will still want to try and make a comeback next year, given that she is now 30. Last season was a disaster for her, and she massively crashed down the rankings - she needed a big season this year to turn things around; feels to me like this season just won't happen and this season with no play will make it harder for her, given her age and current ranking.

It will be very interesting to see how Katie Boulter fares - she was in a protected ranking following injury, but whether she still has that when tennis resumes is uncertain - her results were starting to pick up, just when all this happened, as her current actual ranking is terrible, it feels like everything came at the wrong time for her. Others are saying that Laura is really struggling now too, to regain full fitness.

Yes, it's unclear what the position will be for players who had PRs going into the shutdown.

Katie B's frozen ranking ( based on tournaments from March 2019 to March 2020 ) is WR 374 on 125 points.

As Andy indicated, her comeback results were not too bad at all and at shutdown she held a race position of #149 on 103 points ( based on tournaments from November 2019 to March 2020 ). She was no doubt to some extent aided by being able to enter tournaments on her PR so it would be a bit tougher if she had to use anything around her current frozen actual ranking.

In Laura's case I think it's extremely unlikely... Of the 4 it was only really Tara that was trying to play regularly earlier this year though she clearly had an injury affecting her singles play.

We'll have to see indeed who does return to the tour when it's finally possible, and when that is remains far from unclear. I suspect there will be many that don't. But I think international tournaments are a long way off still.
