Thanks Jon for this.

Interesting that event 2 got 38 votes which is way ahead of any other poll that has been done. Might be something to do with the forum splitting between those that are more into mens and then womens tennis, so a combined poll would pick up both.

Yes,  that is what I thought. I always vote on every poll so dont quite get the mindset of voting men only or women only, even if i dont know the players much or have any passion, I still vote, but it has been obvious there is a sort of Venn diagram going on. By and large there is a slight bias towards the womens side on this board, from the general polls results, not always the finals but often in earlier rounds. I think this current poll will prove a) womens slightly preferred and b) will get close to that top poll, proving it's the players that catch the attention.

The match play events haven't done so well, it seems the longer list "favourites" style ones get more interest.

Of them all this last poll has been my favourite of the favourites because of the sheer amount of learning I've done. I'm not really into nostalgia, and for me this event has been good because it has been less about that and more about bringing all these players back into the present again smile

So, the plan is once this current event of favourite foreign former players is done, to do one final poll of polls to end the polling season - or at least end my involvement in them for now!

Next week, I will do a Favorite of Favouritess event - who is the boards favourite of all. We have done current Brits, former Brits, current foreign players, former foreign players, we have had a Champions fantasy event and we have had a Wimbledon Fantasy event

I have made a list of the players who made the top 4 in each event (or equal 4th) and it totals 22 women and 19 men, listed below. The current event will add to that so I expect to have maybe 45+ total players

My thinking is to have either ONE big mixed final set of polls to find the overall favourite of those favourites!

The list is in the order they qualified :

Monica Seles
Serena Williams
Chris Evert
Martina Navratilova
Heather Watson
Beth Grey
Emily Webley-Smith
Amanda Carreras
Petra Kvitova
Elina Svitolina
Ash Barty
Katy Dunne
Jo Konta
Victoria Azarenka
Simona Halep
Garbine Muguruza
Monica Puig
Venus Williams
Virginia Wade
Elena Baltacha
Ann Jones
Laura Robson

and the men:

Rod Laver
Roger Federer
Bjorn Borg
Pete Sampras
Dan Evans
Andy Murray
Kyle Edmund
Joe Salisbury
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Novak Djokovic
Juan Martin Del Potro
Nick Kyrgios
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Dominic Thiem
Tim Henman
Roger Taylor
Jonny Marray
Marcus Willis
Paul Hutchins

If anyone thinks I have missed someone who reached the top 4 in any of our events, please shout.

With 45-50 players, I think it will be a great way to finish it, by mixing men and women I think it will also mix it all up and put the cat among the pigeons, ending up with the one favourite of the Board.

The current event closes Sunday, so I anticipate running this final favourite of favourites poll of polls sometime next week. Will add the final few players to this list once the current event is concluded, some of them may duplicate those already in, obviously

Those whove read this thread will know next up will be ou poll of polls, favourites of favourites event.

I'll have around 48 or 49 player who qualify through past polls. But I'm conscious that some favourites won have actually had the chance to be voted on due to falling through the cracks.

I want 54 players in the event to form 9 groups of 6. So I've space for several wild cards, maybe 5 or 6.

So I'd like nominations in this thread. Players that could come to mind are:

Players still ranked but too lowly to have made the current players events who are effectively retired or injured and dropped down the ranks - sabine lisicki, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jack sock might fall into this but I'd need to check

Players who are definitely retired but didnt reach a slam final or win a wimbledon match if british - and thus missed out on the Brits event.

Doubles players only who have been or are really popular - the brits in this where included in one of my earlier polls but players like the Bryan's or other specialists wont havebeen.

So please nominate your favourites for a wild card here today. By 10 pm. If they are valid and didnt take part in a previous poll, I'll include them - if there are too many I'll run wild card play off from among the nominees!

I wont nominate any so if you agree with the ones named as examples please formally nominate them. No limits on numbers per board member but please do it in this thread by 10 pm tonight and I'll set up a play off tomorrow if needed.

The draw for the actual favourite of favourites event will be up monday and run through to wednesday or Thursday evening.

Please dont just throw random names out there though! If theyve been in past events they will be excluded! Eg all the brits doubles folks got knocked out apart from joe who is in! If you're not sure, please try and check earlier polls if you can!

...if I dont get enough wild card nominees I'll fall back onto my own list however and nominate myself!

Yes off hand it's certainly hard to know who hasn't been included in any of these polls Jon! And for me WCs might be close misses in some of these previous events...

If you cant remember seeing them, then shout their name and I'll check later.

Despite what I just said, I'll put Lisicki, Kuznetsova,  Sock, Bryan B and Bryan M up for starters then. That's 5! My feeling is I'll need 5 or 6 so if we dont add to this list they'll probably make the cut!

I'd like to suggest Luke Jensen for a wild card. I'm pretty sure that Kuznetsova was in one of the early polls.

Thanks Telstar, I'll add luke and check Kuznetsova.  It will have been favourite wta player or favourite foreign player if she was...
