Mike Sangster had a career with 3 semis at slams, Tim Henman had 6. But two sons of Sheffield went further. Jonny Marray won a slam doubles title at Wimbledon. He was so close but Roger Taylor won 2 slams doubles in the US Open in 1971 and 1972, in the Open Era, and 4 slam semis in singles - 3 of those semifinals he lost in 5 sets, he was so close and closer than any other Brit aside from Andy Murray in current times to reach a final of a slam in the open era, 3 times to 5 sets and two doubles titles trumps Tim. And he is a true Yorkshireman as well, our greatest player from the white rose.
Great to see two players, son and dad, in the final.
I used to help Paul and Shali Hutchins with tennis admin. I have just rung Shali with the news that both Paul and Ross are in the final. She was delighted to hear this.

Best story of the week! I wished I'd voted for Paul rather than Roger but too late!
You should have encouraged Shali and Ross to come on the site and vote, a family tidal wave!
this could genuinely go anyway and amazingly Jonny Marray (top scorer in earlier rounds) hasnt got a single vote yet! Support falling away or too early to make a call like that?
Jonny has his first vote now, but it's the tie at the top that is really interesting! 13 votes in so far and Tim has lost his early lead. It's going to be fascinating to see how later votes pan out.
