Who is your favourite post 1968 and not currently ranked GB player? MEN - Qualifying Group 4

As a reminder, the qualifying round is for players who played singles at Wimbledon but did not win a match in this period. I have included a number of wild cards to bring the totals up to 45 for men and women.

There are 5 groups of 9 players with a random draw.

Those with the highest number of votes (with a maximum of 16 players) across all the 5 groups will qualify for the 1st round proper.

Please feel free to provide reasons for your choices along with any memories that you may have of them.

! am planning to close the polls at around 10.00 on Saturday morning.

Tony Lloyd, the 3rd of the Lloyd brothers, first televised tennis I can remember was him playing with John in doubles at Wimbledon, obviously better doubles than singles. The Essex boys!

Leighton Alfred, the Welsh top man for a while, was my close second in this group

Didnt Nelson play with Trotman and win Wimbledon juniors...I think? My memory is poor these days!

Funnily enough I remember Trotman but not Nelson.

I've just seen that Ward-Hibbert holds the record for fastest serve as a junior at Wimbledon, 133 mph in 2011. He became a basketball player instead of tennis.. I remember reading about that when he switched.

With apologies to Slabba here, I have gone for JWH who is currently rocking it up on the basketball court in Leicester.

My choice has to be Sean Cole purely because he is the only one who I have played and beaten. Need to point out, however, that it was a mens dubs. Sean was partnering his Dad and was only 13!

Josh Ward-Hibbert seems to have been the biggest scoring player in the qualies, good for him - shame he gave up tennis. the best basketball player in this event!

Given JWH's popularity, it may be a little late to "bump" this thread, but while we are dealing with memories, I thought I would throw this pic into the mix.

La Manga training camp again.

Yes.  I spent a few days down in La Manga with the guys watching them train about 5 or 6 years back.  From memory, the 8 players were Liam, JWH, Alex W, Milts, Luke Bambridge, Toby Martin, Oli Golding and Evan Hoyt. There were three coaches on duty.  Leon, James Trotman and Hilts - which is why I am sure there is a pic of Hilts in there somewhere.  I will track it down in the end.

Having said that, I have been down there to several training camps to watch so I may be mixing and matching a bit here.
