Who is your favourite post 1968 and not currently ranked GB player? MEN - Qualifying Group 3

As a reminder, the qualifying round is for players who played singles at Wimbledon but did not win a match in this period. I have included a number of wild cards to bring the totals up to 45 for men and women.

There are 5 groups of 9 players with a random draw.

Those with the highest number of votes (with a maximum of 16 players) across all the 5 groups will qualify for the 1st round proper.

Please feel free to provide reasons for your choices along with any memories that you may have of them.

! am planning to close the polls at around 10.00 on Saturday morning.

Voted for Alex Ward here - feel with a few less injuries that he could have gone a bit further than he actually did.

Chris Bradnam for me, also a great coach as well as a decent player - I think he was Middlesex in County play, but not sure.

Fitzy of course was once of this parish, I hope some of the longer standing board members vote for him!

Yes, seeing that you didn't vote for him Jon! He was also the person that tried to make a player of Naomi Broady as a coach and got her into the top 100 for her one and only period there. For that alone he did get my vote, although I would have liked to vote for Alex too, as I also have a soft spot for him.  I agree with Brittak that he could have been a higher ranked player than he was.

These early qualifying rounds are meant to be easy. Fancy putting Fitzy, Smethers and Alex Ward all in the same group.

Will come back later once I have made my mind up.

Decision time.

Alex Ward - Saw Alex play live 4 times and he lost all 4, so I was clearly a jinx. However, three of those losses were against Mate Pavic (Vale do Lobo Futures), Mishca Zverev (ATP 250 Marseille Qualies) and David Goffin (Wimbledon), so no disgrace in those results. He even organised accommodation for me (in return for taxi services) on the sofa bed of the apartment he had rented with James Marsalek for the week while playing in Vale do Lobo

Smethy - He played in the first ever pro tournament that I went to live (Elche Futures - 2010) although I didn't know him then and I was busy watching Jack Carpenter. Saw him play live in ATP 250 Marseille Qualies where he beat Frenchman Eysseric before losing to Marcel Ilhan in Q2, and also sat with him (and Milts) to watch Alex Ward's Wimbledon match against Goffin on Court 3. He is a top bloke.

Fitzy - Never had the pleasure of watching Fitzy play live but the last time I saw him, he was working as hitting partner for Caroline Wozniacki at the Madrid Open and he sorted me out with a "back stage pass" so I could hob-nob it in the players area. He also helped me out with getting into RG when he was working with Sloane Stephens. When he was trying to raise funds in his playing days, he tried to auction off 10% of his future winnings to the highest bidder on eBay, and he had me bidding against everyone else to try and find out how far they would go. Didn't work out though.

OK. Go on then. Fitzy it is, with apologies to Wardy and Smethy.

Yes Fitzy's winning at the moment now, but would be sorry not to see Alex go through too!

Luck of the draw I am afraid that these are in the same group.

Remember though that the ones with the most votes across all the groups will go through (subject to a maximum of 16) so a Player doesnt necessarily need to win any particular group.

EDIT - this applies to this round only
