Hard work but job done

That was a good match for her. She wasn't really comfortable, she knew what she had to do, a bit out of her comfort zone, but she stuck to it and got the job done. I think she'll be pleased with herself after that.

I disagree, the winner of Jo's match plays winner of Bouzkova and Wang.

I'd also agree, and stand corrected smile

I didn't actually check before posting, and always just thought that was how the draw was, possibly all the withdrawals and rejgging of seeds confused me, but yes, Jo to face the winner of the Wang match if she wins, and that makes more sense in terms of recovery with 2 bottom matches in their morning/afternoon, and the top half in the evening.

Bouzkova won 6-2 7-5, so Jo will be on soon, and that's (definitely) who the winner will play in the semi final.

Potapova moves much better than I remember. Jo is working her side to side but she's getting balls back with pace and getting rewarded. I thought she'd be missing more than she is today.

Jo recovered from an early break down, but then blew *4-2 in the breaker to go down *4-6. Saved both bravely, but not the third where a weak second serve was punished.

6-7(6) *0-0

Work to do, but playing better than yesterday for what it's worth.

Jo was good in the first, great in the second, dreadful at the start of the third.

But she saves a match point when Potapova holds back on a short return, then plays a beautiful lob to break.

*4-5

Big game at 5-5*, good tennis from both. Jo has one break point but it's saved with a beauty of a forehand winner.

*5-6

Mini break restored for Jo in the TB.

It'll be tough on whoever loses this one.

4-2, but it was that score at the changeover in the first set TB as well...
