The Mexican W25+H qualifying is out, but there's no Swan in it. There were no fewer than 10 players above the top Q seed Maria Sanchez who were scheduled to be in qualfying, 2 were Mexican, so will likely have MDWCs, and then if there were no SE's, that will mean 6 withdrawals (from the main draw down to Sanchez), so Katie will either be in the main draw directly, or she'll be one of those 6 withdrawals - possibly the latter sadly since she retired in her last match 3 days ago.

No idea.  But they have two choices really.  Simply give everyone Zero and the next highest counter would be included, or allow everyone to keep their points from the 2019 event until they drop off next year.

Personally I think they will go with the Zero option.  Most players play more than the required 18 per year so just include the next on the list and remove the mandatory status of IW for this year.

Having said that, if they have cancelled IW with only one confirmed case in the region, it doesn't bode well for the other upcoming tournaments.  I can see a complete tour shut down for several months.

Edit

Seems I am not the only one worried about a shut down. Here is a tweet from Jamie Murray

Doesnt bode well for the tour if IW cancelled for 1 confirmed case in Coachella Valley. Broward county (Miami Open home) has more confirmed cases. Monte Carlo borders northern Italy currently in lockdown. Rome Masters? French Open? Wimbledon?!!!

The WTA rulebook says that if a tournament is cancelled, then no points will be awarded. And I would assume last year's points will drop off as normal. Perhaps they WILL change the rules about mandatory counters, but I don't think it is necessary and I doubt if they would do that anyway.

I really hope they find a way to continiue the tour, even if behind closed doors - after all it is people's livelihood, and not just the players. And from a purely selfish point of view, I paid for my Wimbledon ballot tickets last week !

I wonder if IW considered playing behind closed doors. At least that way they would still have received TV revenues and sponsorship money. Not only that, but tennis fans around the world could at least have still watched, even if not on site.

It seems to me that as everyone had arrived they should be running it behind closed doors. To prevent local spread you keep the audience out rather than send away everyone else without the satisfaction of playing.
