Week 8 - WTA International ($250k) - Acapulco, Mexico - Hard

A good draw for Heather it would seem, though Coco did win 3 matches in the recent Oracle Challenger event in Newport Beach.

Good to see Katie playing here too, though her work will be cut out first round.

R32: Heather WATSON (GBR) [7] 69 vs Coco VANDEVEGHE (USA) (SR] 193 (CH:10)

R32: Katie BOULTER (GBR) [SR] 394 vs Jasmine PAOLINI (ITA) 94=CH

Edit: Just to note that rankings are for this coming week from OER so there is still a provisional element to them.

Missed a couple of break points in a long game (though Coco was firing down aces) and broken to love

2-2*

I will say this is mainly because of Cocos style which is very ... Naomi Broady but make it Trumps America.
Heathers drop shot return off a first serve was delicious though

CoCo absolutely fizzing just before at *3-2. Watson had a serve called out, corrected by umpire, and Watson given the point - CoCo raging. Given a warning for violently arguing with the umpire, Watson goes on to win the game, CoCo then impressively snaps the racket across her knee, gets another warning, so a point penalty to start her serve at 15-0* - gets broken, it was all going on.

She did break back to 5-3*, and its a long game here, and she's just held, so Watson now with a 2nd chance to serve it out. *5-4.

That was tough. Coco really got going after the row with the umpire with some big hitting and good volleys. Well done Hev for getting the job done.
