It could be a lucky loser,  there are 5 spots for q/LL.  So that's good for Dan, but it is a tough old draw and going deep will be difficult.

"Kohli" is now 36!  The fifth empty berth in the draw was taken by an SE, Vasek Pospisil, who has the unenviable task of playing the top seed, Daniil Medvedev.

One break of serve in each set sufficed. Dan was 24 points to 1 on serve in the second set.

(5) Fognini or Khachanov in the L16. These two play tomorrow.

Dan up to live #31.
