Haven't watched it all myself, but here it is.

I might be thick but what actually happened? Strycova played a shot that was close to the line, Mattek then played a winner? Was there some sort of challenge to the Strycova shot before Mattek played the winner by Jamie? The whole thing wasnt very clear to me!

I think Jamie called a challenge just as Mattek Sands ht the winner, for some reason the umpire instead of accepting the challenge and going to hawk eye tried to give the point to Melo/Strycova for Jamies obstruction? which Im guessing is how he viewed the challenge so Jamie had a hissy fit, they called the referee, he said do thechallenge and the original ball that Jamie challenged was out by some distance so basically Jamie and Mattek Sands won the point whichever way you look at it but for some reason Strycova didn't think that was fair so kicked off herself. all a bit handbags and avoidable if the umpire had just done the sodding challenge, happy for anyone else to correct this version though

Just watched t. Basically Jamie called challenge during a rally claiming that the opponent's ball was out. However, the rally continued as his partner did not hear the call and she hit the next ball in. The opponents then claimed hindrance as they were put off by Jamie's call. The umpire bizarrely awarded the points to the opponents, I think because he thought Bettanie shouldn't have continued playing, but she was arguing that she didn't hear Jame and couldn't in any case stop halfway through her shot. Jamie and Bethanie called for the supervisor who agreed with them that the challenge should be actioned. For some reason Strykova thought this was unfair but the challenge went ahead and Jamie and Bethanie were vindicated and won the point.

 Definitely hand bags!

Thanks Emmsie and Nix!

Wow what nonsense, just run the challenge! The ball was out by quite a bit, so we had a failure from the line judge, a failure by the umpire to not over-rule the line judge, then another failure from the umpire not to just run the challenge, which he clearly heard.

Yup, it's not often the supervisor sides with the players but that was a slam dunk. I love it when after the umpires explanation he said "So what's the problem?".

The match to determine their SF opponents, between Poles Swiatek & Kubot and Aussie WCs Sharma & Smith, is last on Laver after Nadal vs Thiem.

 Jamie's semi on friday.

Out of interest, does anyone know where Jamie's haul of 7 slam titles stands him in the all time gb list of slam winners? Has any man or woman won more titles across the singles, doubles and mixed. I'm sure they have but he must be up there , putting aside relevance of mixed etc.

Jamie must be right near the top I would imagine, especially in the open era. It's very difficult for me to count slam winners from prior to that due to the difference of it being the non-open era!

Just noting, it is nearly 2 am in Melbourne and the mixed QF is entering the MTB...
