Week 2 - WTA Premier ($848k) - Adelaide, Australia - Hard

Two q rounds here too. Looks tough for Katie this stage of her come back, but glad to see her back on the court again after her withdrawal last week.

Ohhh!!

I don't follow junior tennis so didn't even recognise the name wink

If her match is anything other than short and sweet congratulations to her.

Thats a nice surprise. I know wiki can be edited by anyone, but she is down as an Aussie on there, so hopefully she hasn't switched. It really is random.

Well the ITF still have her down as British, so fingers crossed !

In a couple of tournaments last year she beat Aleksandra Pitak 6-1 6-2 but lost 6-7(4) 3-6 to Jodie Burrage.

Katie did beat Pera in St Petersburg quals in Jan 19, but understandably she's not quite the same proposition at the moment, but like Michael, I'm just pleased she is back in action.

Wiki now has the union flag next to banks.

Oomph, Daria Dasatkina for Marni.

I hadn't realised Daria had fallen quite so far. I hope she doesn't refind top 10 form here and it is all a pretty good experience for Marni, if unlikely to be that long a one. Though it would be good to see Daria pushing back up as the year proceeds.

CD and I have been kind of following Marni for years, as a contemporary of, and at least in the past competitive with, Emma R. I didn't quite expect to see her involved in a WTA Premier at this stage!

I guess she is using this as a warm up for the junior Aus Open.
I assume she will pick up a ranking point, but it is a huge step up for her. Lets hope it will not knock her confidence.

She was broken in the last game to go down 3-6 in the third. But very promising considering its Amarni's first match at this level.

Yes, diehard fans of old smile

Great show from our girl, and great experience.

Marni is now back in the UK for good, after her 3 years in Spain, according to recent reports.

Wow Amarni's result was closer than Katie's in that she got a set at least! A really fantastic performance from her very impressive... As for Katie, well closer to being competitive perhaps, but she still needs to improve her service stats..
