Week 46 - ATP Tour Finals - London, United Kingdom - (Indoor, Hard).

Not able to post draw but felt as we have Joe in this , we should have a thread.

Sadly , Joe and Rajeev lost their opener in 2 sets to Klaasen and Venus

Joe is one win here from being ranked GB #1.

He has actually been very close a few times in recent months, at times being live #1 but not yet quite made it.

Hope he can still get a win or two here for wider reasons than just GB #1.

Is this thread generally reserved for doubles chat, or is it fine to discuss the singles. I can easily keep bumping the 'Race to London' thread if people would prefer them to be kept seperate.

I'd say both singles and doubles if anyone wants to drop some singles chat in.

Agree with indy, hence why I didn't put doubles in title!

With djoko winning easily against berretini, thiem is a set and 6-5 up serving for the set against Federer.

Thursday night could be a make or break djoko v federer match to stay in the event for fed.

I haven't seen any play, anyone who's watched, hows the court speed this year ?

And Thiem wins 7-5 7-5, and so plays djoko on tuesday, presumably evening.

I can't remember if they do have winners play in the evening as a sort of rule, but if not, I'd probably expect Matteo vs Roger to be the evening slot.

It does look like it'll be particularly hard for Roger to progress now - he'll almost certainly have to beat Novak (there would be a chance he could sneak through if Novak won all 3 matches and the other 3 exchanged wins), but even if he did, it would likely end up with those two and Thiem on 2 wins, and then it would then come down to games and sets, and with two 2-0 wins today, Roger's at a disadvantage on that front already.

Their Wimbledon match was an absolute disaster for Matteo, who obviously struggled badly today as well, but I can't see the Italian playing that poorly again, and was probably largely nerves (like that Centre Court match), so while maybe not enough to win, I would expect some sort of response from Berrettini on Tuesday.
