There's less for them to gauge at this level, but Betfred had Esthers match very close - 6/4 vs 1/2, so that score line is particularly disappointing.
No shame in losing to a more experienced / higher ranked opponent of course, but you'd have hoped it would be more competitive - hopefully just a one off well below par performance.

Esther, in my opinion, is not the level you'd expect from someone as touted as she was. And that applies to pre-injury too. And has always been my view.
However, equally, she has such a good physique for tennis, and decent serve, that each time she steps onto the court you think she'll be brilliant. It's frustrating.....But it might be a question of age and coach....
MD is out except for qualifiers. Ali Collins has had a barren run of late and could really do with 1-2 wins for a change. Sadly, this draw means she is likely to fall at the first hurdle once again this week.

Ali will be more than a little envious of Sonay's draw!

Not going particularly well for Ali. Bookies had this 11/10 (Ali) vs 4/6 pre match, so very very close despite the significant ranking difference, but unfortunately it's going with rankings at the moment, *0-5. All games have been to 30 and 40, so she is at least competing.
There actually is a stream for it, but I haven't managed to watch any of it. There's a rain delay now anyway, so hopefully she can regroup and get herself back into it when they return, most likely in the 2nd set.
