Hard to credit theres only Lauryn flying the flag for the British women.
Not really. Apart from Emily A, there were no players ranked in the top 1000 playing this week.
No i realise that. I wasnt commenting on only one getting through out of 2, more that there is only one player playing on a Friday. Singles or doubles. Thats what i was finding hard to credit, in the bigger picture.
It was a weird week. As Lamda commented in the Entries thread it looked as if the women had ''withdrawn en mass''. It continued as Mimi was a late withdrawal from Czechia when every point was needed for potentially getting to AO qualifying. Both Jizel and Lauryn won their first round matches which was lovely but then Lauryn won her second round match. This was unexpected, This was brilliant, This ensured Lauryn would be playing on Friday of this week. This ensured that there was a feminine presence on this thread this week. Lauryn is ranked 1079 and beat the player seeded no 3 and ranked 761. Credit to Lauryn. Go Lauryn.
