Great to see Katie B back. No real expectations for the rest of the year, but hopefully she can at least get a few tournaments under her belt and be more 'match ready' when it comes to using her PR in events next year. Perhaps with a relatively generous qualifier here she may even return with a win.

Yep, just noticed that. I was just having my usual quick scan of fixtures and odds for the ITF events this week and there are actually a few decent players in the Q draw here. A few other promising juniors are potential R1 opponents.

Katie is playing Joanna Garland who has qualified. That should be interesting.

Wins 6-4 in the end. I only saw the last few games but what I did see left me unconvinced she will go any further.

Seemingly Australia haven't let another Jo Konta go then.

To be honest, that's an excellent result for Naithka. Must be her best for ages.

To beat someone higher ranked than herself, someone in the top 300, someone who was 120 not that long ago - she may well go no further but that result in itself is miles better than most of hers this year. Well done to her.

Katie really struggling with her serve - only making 34% first serves at this point in the match. Double break down in the second at 1-4*

First match back after injury shows that more work needs to be done before AO as expected.
She lost the second set 1-6
