Week 45- ITF (W25) Malibu, USA Hard

Q1: BARNETT, Alicia (GBR) 5 587 v HUI, Katherine (USA) WC UNR 14yo JCH=1355

The number one seed in qualifying was below Tara so I assume Tara has been moved into the main draw.

Id imagine no doubles for Sam because she will have her eye on the WTA 125 qualies. If she makes the final here shell not bother whereas its likely she would still be in doubles.

She's actually in the 125k draw now, but wouldn't have been when making the dubs decision, so could well be her theory.

Thats great news then, she could very well go deep here, might be good to conserve energy. Im making the assumption she will head to India for the 3 x 25ks in December based upon her previously playing them and her Indian husband. If she does its very likely she will be top 200 ranked by the Aus Open qualies. Certainly playing top 200 tennis.

What about a close season? All 3 December Indian 25Ks is surely too much. I wonder if she will play any of them on this occasion.

Sam has had a long season, if one that took time to really get going and how. She has clearly had major fitness issues in the past and while things look good I'd think better to take a little time off then prepare for 2020. Look after her body.

Shs has that Aussie appointnent in the second week of January which she hasn't had before.

An alternative is to play through December and the Aussie Open then have a belated close season. I wouldn't expect that.

Oh dear, that's a pity. Hope she'll be able to play next week.

Only 4 points won on serve out of 16, which is most unlike Sam.
