And then chucked in his first two DFs of the set and faced a BP which he survived.

At least good that if Jack was under par and less than fully fit that a Brit benefited.

Ryan played that match well.

Jack might have been tired. But he didn't really look it. (He always bends over like that when he loses a point).

I got the impression Jack was having a harder time playing another leftie - some of his trademark shots didn't work quite the same. And Ryan was very solid.

(But I may be wrong)

I wasn't really fit for another late night also, so all good .  He can rest up in nice conditions hopefully for a bit.  I still remember that fall he had last week - he may be been being a drama queen, but it did look quite nasty.

I've never seen Ryan before but I thought he played really well. I had expected Jack to overpower him, but he clearly wasn't on top form - either injured or unhappy, I wasn't sure which. None the less I thought Ryan played a smart game and deserved to win. Good luck to him for the rest of the tournament. Jack will have plenty more opportunities but at 23 Ryan needs to be regularly winning matches on the Challenger tour if he is to seriously climb the rankings.

I must say, I expected Jack to win that one, but what do I know?  All credit to Ryan for coming out on top.

Yeah, he was a break up and, serving, 40-15 up until he, inexplicably, decided to lose the game ...

That was a bit of a struggle!  He'll have to pull up his socks against his next opponent!
