L48: James Ward WR 291 defeated Pavel Kotov (RUS) WR 258 by 7-6(2) 7-5

L32: James Ward WR 291 vs (8) Yannick Hanfmann (GER) WR 192 (CH = 99 in July last year)
Thats a decent win for James. Does anyone know the typical AO Qualies cut off and cut off date for qualifying entries? Wondering how much he, Jan and others in the running (Liam, Jack, Ryan, Evan?) need to do and by when.
I presume Jay will be very safe unless he has lots of points tumbling off?

He had three MPs in the TB, one on his own serve, where Daniel Alt. played very well. Saved a MP too. But finally double-faulted, which was a shame to end that way.....

Yes, Jay is totally safe for Aussie Open qualifying. After that and our 'big 4', Liam is in very good contention, then Jan, James and perhaps yet Jack have outside chances and I'd say that would be it ( anyone else is less than halfway to the required points ).
Qualifying cut-off ranking date is 23/12 and I think you'ed want to be ultimately better than WR 250 ( I'm not sure what it usually ends up as ). Anyway, the current WR 250 is Mirza Basic on 182 points. Let's see how close our players are to that basic ( ho ho ) level with guaranteed minimum 23/12 points.
Guaranteed minimum 21/10 points* less points due to come off 28/10 to 23/12 inclusive in order of the guaranteed minimum 23/12 points :
Jay : 265 - 7 = 258 ( from 9 counters )
Liam : 174 - 7 = 167 (18)
Jan : 140 - 0 = 140 (13)
James : 143 - 17 = 126 (13)
Jack : 111 - 0 = 111 (14)
Brydan : 108 - 21 = 87 (11)
Evan : 97 - 13 = 84 (13)
Lloyd : 81 - 3 = 78 (14)
Ryan : 96 - 19 = 77 (14)
* Liam, James, Lloyd and Ryan are currently still in challenger draws this week and these points include the R1 wins for James, Lloyd and Ryan.

Thanks indy, that's a great analysis, maybe we should have a mens and womens thread for the road to melbourne?
Liam indeed looks in good shape, jan cant buy a win, james with only 13 counters probably has a decent chance if he has a big event or two. As you say Jack but hed have to play challengers really now, as would the ones below him to get close.
