With her late withdrawal and still being entered for the week 40 Italy 25K, hopefully she's not too far away.

Eden is the no 1 seed in qualifying in Portugal and gets a bye in the first round.

Beth is seeded 5 but has to play two rounds as does Sashi Kempster who is new to me, No sign of EWS

Good draw for Beth - highest ranking in her section is WR1140
Sashi is in the section with the #4 seed

Sashi is a youngster, born 2003. She is based out in Portugal, I believe, at CETO - Cunha e Silva Tennis Academy.

I think she might have lived in the US before that. She hasn't played very much junior ITF tennis so is pretty lowly ranked as a junior too

16 year old Sashi has a game on the board in her qualifying match at Portugal

Sashi lost 7-6(4) 6-2. That's not a bad score at all.

A couple of interesting qr1 matches at roehampton. Emily App should beat Sonay. But will be curious to see....

Just trying to figure out who will have the MDWCs and it's not as clear as last week. Alicia will have one, and think she won a British tour to guarantee it anyway, no Armani Banks in quals and she had a good win in quals last week, so she'll probably have one, and then mainly due to lack of alternatives, I'd imagine Emma will have one, which would at least mean she was fit, but she missed out on direct acceptance as Arcongioli made a W15 final in Turkey to qualify for an SE, and if Emma has a MDWC, then it'll mean no withdrawals from the 18 acceptees in the list. Really not sure after that - I mentioned Grace Piper as a possibility on the 16/09 entries thread, but can't really see anybody after those 3 who would be in contention - I thought Grace, Sonay or Eliz may have got one here, but all 3 are in quals, so it'll be interesting to see who else has one. Could the likes of Katie Swan get one, despite not being on the entry list, or is that not possible?

As for the Q draw itself, it's a bit of a shame how it's worked out. We will get a guaranteed qualifier in Emily Apps section, but she unfortunately has a live opponent in Sonay - would have been far better if it was say Emily vs Mpukusa, and then Sonay played someone else. Rajecki and A Pitak are the other 2 opponents in that section, and they too will think they have a chance of qualifying, but only one can. It really should be a Freya vs Garland FQR, even with this version of Freya, so that will be interesting, and again, a shame that they both can't qualify.

A player can indeed have a WC without being on the entry list so possible unexpected inclusion(s).

Anyway we'll find them all out tomorrow.

Good to see Suzy Larkin getting a QWC here. I'm disappointed that Freya is in the same section as Joanna Garland as I really can't see her winning that match.

Cool, in that case, I'll predict Swan has a MDWC. She's been training, she's currently in London (watching Arsenal today), and by Tuesday it'll have been 5 weeks since her US Open Q1 match, and one of the journalists said she'd be out for roughly 4 weeks. If she is then she'll be a seed, and probably knock off Katy in the process.
